Aging Rockers Help Get Homeless LA Kids Off My Stoop

Not all kids in LA are obnoxious, bratty turds with fast cars and nicer phones than me. More than 10,000 of them sleep on the streets, in abandoned buildings, and other creative places. Sometimes they sleep on my front stoop, which actually gets kind of annoying and once I had to call the cops but that’s neither here nor there.

Thank God for Slash and friends! Slash (…and friends) are putting on a show Nov. 22 at Avalon in Hollywood to benefit LAYN – Los Angeles Youth Network, a non-profit that provides shelter, food and counseling for the abused, neglected and abandoned. Tickets to LAYN Rocks are kinda pricey, but it’s sure to have some worthwhile moments. Plus, it’s charity, so quit using the “but we’re in a recession!” excuse and take a moment to give a shit. LAYN Rocks features performances by:

Ozzy Osbourne (actually the site spells it Osborne, so it might be a different Ozzy altogether)
Chris Cornell
Billy Idol
Travis Barker
Andrew Stockdale of Wolfmother
Dave Navarro
Chester Bennington of Linkin Park
…and your host… George Lopez!

them crooked vultures straighten up and fly right

Them Crooked Vultures, the supergroup consisting of lead Foo Dave Grohl, Queens of the Stone Age’s Josh Homme and Led Zeppelin bassist John Paul Jones, announced some new fall tour dates and released a snippet of what sounds like videogame music but is apparently a song called “Scumbag Blues.”

It should at the very least be better than the supergroup of Dave’s former bandmate. If you want to see just how super this supergroup is, find out where to go after the jump.

Big Four Tour…Riiiiight.

It’ll never happen, right? Right?! It’s a possibility..Maybe.

Metal Hammer recently spoke with Kerry King of Slayer and he says differently. Kinda..

“I’ve heard people referencing Lars,” says King. “I don’t know Lars that well and I haven’t heard it from Lars but apparently he’s talking to somebody about it. Maybe us, Metallica, Megadeth (and), I think he even threw in Anthrax and I said in this day and age, I know we had that time together but how do you leave out Machine Head? There’s better options than Anthrax and that’s nothing against Anthrax, but they’ve just been in pieces for quite some time and that doesn’t make as much sense to me.”

So it’s only a rumor but I really don’t think it’ll ever happen. All those dudes hate one another or at least Dave Mustaine hates all of them. I won’t hold my breath, and neither should you.

3 Inches of Blood – “Battles and Brotherhood” now streaming on myspace

Listen to it here. Here Waits Thy Doom will be released September 8th on Century Media. I’m pretty sure “Battles and Brotherhood” is the first single considering they are making a video for it that’ll be directed by Rick Podd.

I feel like playing World of Warcraft after listening to 3IOB. That’s mostly a bad thing since I can’t afford the 15 dollar a month fee. Don’t forget that 3 Inches of Blood are going on tour this Fall with In Flames, Between the Buried and Me and The Faceless! Dates after the jump.

Steven Tyler, it’s time to hang ’em up.

Steven Tyler AKA “Lionel Richie’s horse face ain’t got shit on mine,” has injured himself on tour, again. This time it looks like it was serious, as he was carried out by helicopter. “Nifty” thought he could jump around and dance like an idiot when the ultra advanced South Dakota event’s sound system failed during “Love in an Elevator.” Mr. Tyler also thought it’d be nice to fall off the stage in front of the crowd made up of 40, and 50 somethings. They all cheered him as he laid motionless for a few seconds before realizing this very well could have been the end.

Enough is enough. I don’t know what Mick Jagger’s training consists of, or who he trains with in the off season, but Steven Tyler might want to hire that dude to give it one last go.

Frank Carter of Gallows calls Jeffree Star and BrokenCYDE “Shitty fucking bands”

Gallows front man Frank Carter is my hero. The only thing left to do, Frank, is to say “Jeffree Star is a faggot, and I want him to die.”

Smile Empty Soul About To Start Touring With Saliva

I think the kind of music these dudes make is post-grunge, and the kind of music Saliva makes is post-headlining any kind of tour-core. The good dudes of Smile Empty Soul are in LA shooting their next video, and are prepping the release of their latest album, Consciousness, which will be out August 25th. They’ll be re-joining the tour August 8th in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Hit the jump for the dates!

Mastodon, Dethklok, Converge, High On Fire to tour this fall!

It’s good to know that a show with this much testicular fortitude will be happening in the near future. I went to No Doubt w/ Paramore last night. I feel a little bit pussified after sitting through a Paramore set (for the second time in my life), but that was inescapable. Oh, the joys of being in a relationship! In all seriousness, No Doubt put on an amazing performance, and I applaud them for it. Now, if you hit the jump you will see tour dates for this potentially magnificent show!
