Against Me! In Studio for ‘New Wave’ Follow-Up

Against Me! are hard at work on their follow-up to 2007’s career-making album New Wave, with New Wave producer Butch Vig (Nirvana, Green Day, Smashing Pumpkins) back at the knobs. The band also has a new drummer: George Rebelo, formerly of fellow Florida punks Hot Water Music, replacing longtime drummer Warren Oakes, who ditched Against Me! in April when he decided its better to sell burritos than to fade away.

Against Me! is known for their politically charged lyrics, but frontman Tom Gabel said the new album, slated for a 2010 release on Sire Records, is “all over the place.”

“If anything, I would say one recurring theme is reflection,” he says. “‘White Crosses’ was written during my recent stay in St. Augustine, Florida, and ‘I Was A Teenage Anarchist,’ well, that’s pretty self-explanatory. New Wave was a great album to make, and now we want to show another side of the band.”

Dokken Does Not Like Chicken and Wants to Destroy It

Dokken’s gone from rawkin’ to hawkin’, in a new ad campaign for Norton Internet Security 2010 featuring the metal band. The concept? Narrator, take it away: “Imagine that your hard drive is a chicken. ’80s heavy metal band Dokken is a computer virus that wants to blow up your chicken.” Of course.

Dokken’s “Greatest Hits, Vol. 2” — a collection of all-new versions of tracks such as “Dream Warriors”, “Breaking the Chains” and “Just Got Lucky” — is tentatively due in October via Rhino. But I wouldn’t recommend downloading that shit illegally. Fools have mad connections in virus and spyware circles.

Watch 3 versions of the refreshingly clever spots after the jump.

Apparently these guys are fucking Gods in Europe (Denmark to be exact) and they’re looking to make a splash in America. They’re releasing a digital only EP titled Petite Machine on September 22nd in the States and there are plans to release another in January..and that one has a David Bowie collab. “Surfing the Warm Industry” is the first single off of Petite Machine. The video is about a whore who sleeps her way to the top! Animated whores!! Hit the jump for the full bio!
