FREE SHIT: Alice in Chains – A Looking In View

lookinginview1-500x511

It’s here! It’s here!! The new Alice in Chains single “A Looking in View” has been offcially released, and is available for FREE DOWNLOAD over at Aliceinchains.com!! I have to say, Layne Staley was fucking great, and I thought the band would be finished forever, but William Duvall does a hell of a nice job filling in. The track is a little on the long side (Over 7 minutes), but it’s heavy as hell. Someone get me a Goddamn radio edit.

Sidenote: I made an ass of myself in front of Vernon Reid on Twitter yesterday. I bet he thinks I’m an idiot.

Play Call of Duty With Dee Snider on Xbox Live

snider

I think the majority of the Xbox Live populace doesn’t know who the fuck Dee Snider is, let alone Twisted Sister. If you’ve ever played Halo 3, you know what I’m talking about. Maybe it’s a different demographic with Call of Duty: World at War, though. Still, the “geniuses” at Atlantic most likely will strike out when this is ready to go. Oh, I guess Stay Hungry is being re released this year with 15 bonus tracks or some shit like that. Click below for details on when Mr. Snider will hold an Xbox controller for the first time in his life. How not fun is that going to be..blegh.

Confusion.

Okay, I forgot to mention that once a week we will be time traveling, taking LSD hits, and wearing “groovy threads.” Resident geriatric, Uncle Reg will be talking about music from his heyday. Pretty sure Mondays are reserved for the old man’s blabbering. So go back a couple of posts, and read about Eric Clapton being an unoriginal heroin addict.

Durst, Borland Add “berg” To Their Last Names

durst is a tool

Nu-Metal/Rap-Metal joke-band, Limp Bizkit will not be performing at Bro-fest 2009 aka UFC 100 on July 10th in Las Vegas. Fred Durstberg said Interscope and Dana White couldn’t come up with an agreement on DVD rights ($$$). It’s too bad Wigger classics like “Break Stuff,” and “Nookie” won’t be performed for the thousands in attendance wearing their Affliction and Metal Mullisha gear. Life isn’t always fair, brahs.

Read about this fuckery over at Rolling Stone.

Clapton, O My Clapton

Let me start off by saying this: don’t get me wrong, I like the guy. But Eric Clapton is living proof that you don’t have to be that creative to make it as a musician. “I Shot the Sheriff”? Written by Bob Marley. “Cocaine” and “After Midnight”? Both written by J.J. Cale. “Crossroads Blues”? Written by Robert Johnson (and the devil). Eric Clapton is what happens when you mix a talented musician with an extraordinarily talented thief. Granted, in any field where creativity is involved, you learn one thing: it’s all been done before. But COME ON, Eric! Even when he did an original song like “Tears in Heaven”, he copied the unplugged style pioneered by Southern Culture On the Skids and mimicked Mark Knopfler’s fingerstyle play (everytime I see Knopfler and Clapton playing together in a youtube clip, I want to scream, “Don’t play with that guy, Knopf, he’s only there to cop your style!”). Even the drugs he was into weren’t anything new; Miles Davis had been all over the heroin long before Clapton came along.

Even with all that, Clapton was the player that brought the lead guitar player to an elevated status. “Clapton is God” was showing up on the London subway walls even before Hendrix made his mark. While players like SRV, Mark Knopfler and Hendrix may have been more original in style and innovative in technique, Clapton helped get them there. Plus, if you watch the video, you’ll see he was a snappy dresser back in the day.

Alice In Chains Teaser Video

Well, I just received the news that my girlfriend got her period, so I was pretty happy. Then I saw part 2 of the teaser videos for the new Alice In Chains song “A Looking in View,” and I jumped for motherfucking joy. It sounds like it’s going to be fucking heavy, not just the song either, but the whole album. I’m looking forward to this one. Black Gives Way to Blue will be out September 29th, on EMI.

Check out part 1 here.

Video: Alestorm – Keelhauled

Apparently there are now two “Pirate Metal” bands, and I don’t really dig either one of them too much, but I can tolerate this band a lot more than Swashbuckle. Plus there’s a keytar in this video, you know? Check the video out, blah blah.

Kittie reform, sign to E1 Music

sisti_kittie_01

I totally forgot about these broads. I remember them going through lineup changes, so I don’t even know about accurate the picture above is. Anyway, if anyone cares, they have a new album coming out September 15th, 2009 on E1 Music titled In The Black.

I remember how “revolutionary” these girls were when they came out. That was during the time rap-nu-metal was poppin’. I may, or may not have jerked off to pictures of one of them. Here’s a quote from the press release by Morgan Lander:

We are totally thrilled and honored to be working with Scott Givens and to now be part of the E1 family.  We have been hard at work for the past few months perfecting our latest musical offering and are pleased with the final result of In The Black.  It is everything that Kittie is supposed to be:  heavy, fast, brash and nasty, yet at times introspective, feminine and emotional.  One thing it is not, however, is compromising of the sound and style that we have come to be known for.  This s*** is HEAVY!   Our new label pairing with E1 will actualize the vision that we have held constant over the years for the band.”
